Every estimate on this page is built from three layers of real data — not generic averages. First, climate: we use sun-hour data derived from NASA's POWER Project (30-year satellite climatology) for your region, the same dataset used by energy researchers. Second, tariffs: we maintain localised electricity rates and solar policy rules for each supported country — for example, Malaysia's estimates follow the Solar ATAP net-billing scheme that replaced NEM in January 2026, where self-consumption matters more than export. Third, system assumptions: we apply conservative, industry-standard loss factors for panel efficiency, inverter losses, heat and wiring, so the numbers you see err toward realistic rather than optimistic.

The result is an estimate typically within 10–20% of a professional site assessment. It can't replace one — your exact roof direction, shading and structure need human eyes — but it tells you honestly whether solar is worth pursuing before anyone tries to sell you anything.

What the calculator can't know

We don't see your roof's structural condition, panel-level shading from nearby trees, or your utility's connection-approval queue. Estimates also assume current tariff and policy rules, which governments change — we update these when they do (as we did when NEM ended). Treat your result as a well-informed starting point for conversations with installers, not a quotation.
